"Provide Leadership - Encourage Teamwork - Focus on Mission"

To grow our Marine Corps League in Indiana, we must "Provide Leadership" in our Detachments, "Encourage Teamwork" in our Detachments, and most of all "Focus on Mission" in all our Detachments.
Mission: Members of the Marine Corps League join together in camaraderie and fellowship for the purpose of preserving the traditions and promoting the interests of the United States Marine Corps, banding together those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who have been honorably discharged from that service that they may effectively promote the ideals of American freedom and democracy, voluntarily aiding and rendering assistance to all Marines, FMF Corpsmen and former Marines and FMF Corpsmen and to their widows and orphans; and to perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps and by fitting acts to observe the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular interest to Marines.

Become a Plank Owner

MARINE BARRACKS INDIANAPOLIS

Since December 1973, and the founding of the Marine Corps League, Hiram I. Bearss Detachment in Indianapolis, it has long been a dream and goal of many long time members to create a maintain a museum and library in mid-America dedicated to Marines.
With your help we can achieve this goal!!

The Marine Corps League of Indianapolis, in conjunction with the Marine Foundation of Central Indiana have taken on the awesome responsibility of contracting a building; this will be used as a Marine Corps Historical and Family Center and home of the Hiram I Bearss Detachment, Marine Corps league and other Marine Corps oriented organizations in Central Indiana. A Marine facility and gathering place!!!

The League’s new home is at 3561 English Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. The building is being leased for three years with an option to buy at the end of the lease. While the building structure is sound, it will require some “rehabilitation and fixing-up”. Not to mention normal maintenance and operating expenses. We estimate that it will take a minimum of $30,000.00 for the rehabilitation and an annual budget of $20,000.00 to maintain the building.

In the Unites States Navy and Marine Corps being a “Plank Owner” is an honor...historically, “a “plank owner” is an individual who was a member of the crew of a ship when that ship was first commissioned. Today, “plank owner” is applied to members of newly commissioned units, new military bases …”

Having the title of “Plank Owner” includes certain rights and privileges—including bragging rights to the ownership of the planks in the main deck.
You could have the honor of being a “Plank Owner” for our new home. Your donations will help to create and maintain the traditions of our Corps and supporting our new home.
