Over a period of several months, numerous concerns and complaints have been received from veterans organizations using .30 caliber blank ammunition with lot numbers beginning with CBB in M1 Garand rifles. In April 2009, an incident occurred while fireing the M1 Garand using CBB blank ammunition. A piece of the back of the weapon receiver blew off and the operator received powder burns to his face and a deep gash on his cheek where the rear section of the receiver hit him after it blew off.
Veteran organizations using bolt action rifles should not have any problems using the CBB lots of ammunition. However if you do encounter problems, immediately cease use and please contact the point of contact listed below.
To replace this ammunition or to report problems, the point of contact is Dawn Folland, HQ Joint Munitions Command, AMSJM-CDS, Rock Island, IL 61299, dawn.lynn.folland@us.army.mil , 877-233-2515.
